Christmas Adverts
Different adverts have different audiences to suite the products they are trying to sell and ways to target these different audiences is to include things that are going to attract different groups of people.
The Waitrose Christmas advert is based on food, this suggests that the producers are focusing on an adult audience due to the fact that they are normally the ones who do the cooking and shopping at Christmas. The producer added Heston Blumenthal which is a good advertisement attraction as It encourages people to buy food from Waitrose in hope that it will be just as good as the famous chefs. The advert also attracts you to all the festive food they offer in general along with a happy family atmosphere which could suggest they were trying to create the sense that if you buy there food you will have a fun filled perfect Christmas just like them.
The John Lewis advert seems to be directed a children, the penguin and the little boy have a really cute bond which may draw attention for the children as they may feel a sense of jealousy and feel they must have a penguin like that too, it attracts their attention first as the penguins irresistible and could make anyone's heart melt. they use toys and cuddly animals to attract their audience as what children don't love those two things? it creates a sense of excitement for Christmas and they would probably try and persuade their parents to got John Lewis so thy can be just like the little boy.
The Sainsbury's advert 2015 seems to have an audience based on family, it is filled with humour and care. The advert starts on Mog the cat which is more for children as It creates humour and draws them in as its a well known character and creates an aspect of fun and story telling. The ending of the advert is based more on adults as it shows the burnt turkey coming out of the house, this is a remake of a real situation and shows that anything can go wrong, there is a sense of hope when all the neighbourhood come to help them and have a bright Christmas which shows that the advert is based at everyone as an inspiration for the fact that anything can happen but life's what you make it.
